  FRENCH CHRISTMAS CUSTOMS

Crέche is the French word for nativity scene, and you'll find one in every French home

where the holiday is celebrated. The displays tend to be elaborate, featuring village scenes

and many figurines in addition to Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.

The holiday fun continues into January with la Fέte des Rois. Although la fέte des Rois

is a national holiday, it is widely celebrated with a namesake cake made from flaky puff

pastry and almond cream.

Mistletoe is hung up for good luck. The French also hang mistletoe in their homes during

Christmas season. The only difference is that it is considered to be a symbol of good luck .
